This large vintage platter was crafted by Wendell August Forge, America’s oldest and longest-running forge for hand-wrought metalware. The piece is stamped Wendell August Forge 505 on the underside, confirming its authenticity. Measuring an impressive 18 inches wide, this scalloped-edge platter features a beautiful embossed grape and leaf motif, a timeless design often associated with abundance and entertaining.
Wendell August Forge, founded in 1923, is well known for its hammered aluminum creations, each piece made by hand using traditional techniques. This platter represents mid-20th century American craftsmanship, making it both a functional serving piece and a collectible work of art.
The platter shows expected signs of age and use, including light scratches and surface wear, but remains sturdy and highly decorative. Its size makes it perfect as a centerpiece tray, fruit or cheese serving platter, or wall display in rustic, farmhouse, or vineyard-inspired décor.
