A charming 19th-century English copper-luster bowl featuring a cobalt-blue band hand-decorated with gilt foliate strokes. The interior and exterior retain the classic mirrorlike copper luster; proportion suggests a small waste/tea bowl from a cottage set. Lovely for display with Staffordshire, transferware, or farmhouse décor.
Materials: Earthenware pottery with copper-luster metallic glaze; hand-painted cobalt band with gilt decoration
Style/Theme: Victorian cottage; foliate/scroll motif; mantel or shelf décor
Age: c. 1840–1860 (mid-19th century)
Size: approx. 4.5 in wide x 2.5 in tall
Condition: Good antique condition with honest age wear. Interior luster shows rubbing/abrasion and spotting; exterior luster has scattered wear and fine craze lines; small glaze losses and flea bites at the foot consistent with age (see photos). Presents well.
Maker/Brand: Unmarked, typical of English copper lusterware production (Staffordshire region attribution likely).
Country of Origin: England (attributed)
Food Safe?: Not recommended for food or drink use due to antique metallic glaze and wear; for decorative use only.
