This striking vintage Japanese vase features a unique square body with flared neck, beautifully hand-painted in the Satsuma-style tradition. The vase showcases intricate bird and floral motifs in vibrant shades of red, green, blue, and gold with raised gilt accents, all set against a cream crackle-glazed background. Measuring approximately 8 inches tall and 3 inches wide, it carries the red stamped mark on the base reading “Not for Food Use – May Poison Food”, indicating it was made as a decorative piece.
Crafted in Japan during the mid-to-late 20th century, this vase embodies both traditional artistry and collectible appeal. Its square form distinguishes it from more common round vases, making it an eye-catching display piece for curio cabinets, shelves, or as part of a vintage Asian-inspired collection.
