This vintage Hakata Urasaki doll depicts an elderly man carefully examining an egg in one hand while balancing a shallow bowl filled with eggs in the other. Crafted from clay and hand-painted in naturalistic tones, the figurine shows the man dressed in a dark robe with a brown vest and traditional sandals. His serene expression and lifelike stance reflect the artistry for which Hakata dolls from Fukuoka, Japan are renowned.
Standing 9 inches tall with a 5.5 by 4 inch base, this piece dates to the mid-20th century (circa 1950s–1960s). These dolls were produced as export items after WWII and are now appreciated as cultural keepsakes and collectible Japanese folk art.
