A handsome tall-form teapot (often also used as a coffee pot) in the classic “English Scenery” pattern by Wood & Sons (mark: Enoch Woods’ English Scenery – Woods Ware – Wood & Sons – England). Rich cobalt transfer shows a rural pastoral scene with cottages, figures, trees, and florals; the lid is decorated to match and topped with a dark blue finial. A great statement piece for blue-and-white displays or an English cottage tablescape.
Materials: Glazed ceramic/earthenware (transfer-printed).
Style/Theme: Victorian revival; blue & white transferware; pastoral countryside scene with florals.
Age: Mid-20th century, c. 1940s–1960s (based on backstamp style for Wood & Sons “English Scenery”).
Maker/Brand: Wood & Sons (Woods Ware); pattern “Enoch Woods’ English Scenery.”
Country of Origin: England.
Size: Approx. 9 in tall (to finial) × 9 in wide spout-to-handle.
Condition: Structurally sound with allover age-appropriate crazing and tea/age staining, especially toward the lower body; scattered glaze wear and small manufacturing specks; light surface marks from use. Spout and handle intact; no obvious cracks or repairs seen. Presentable and displays beautifully, with honest vintage character.
Food Safety: Because of the extensive crazing/age and unknown lead content typical of mid-century transferware, recommend decorative use or dry service only. Not for microwave; gentle hand-wash advised.
