A handsome English pottery pitcher by Lord Nelson Ware (Elijah Cotton Ltd.), finished in a warm mustard/amber glaze with black floral transfers, raised bead borders, and silver-tone lustre on the rim and handle. Compact and sculptural, it displays beautifully on a shelf or with a small bouquet for that English-country look.
Materials: Glazed earthenware/ceramic; black transfer decoration; silver-tone lustre accents
Style/Theme: English country, cottage, farmhouse; floral motif with bead borders
Age: ca. 1930s–1950s (Elijah Cotton Ltd. / Lord Nelson Ware period)
Maker / Mark: ELIJAH COTTON LTD – LORD NELSON WARE – STAFFORDSHIRE, ENGLAND (base mark shown)
Country of Origin: England (Staffordshire)
Size: ~6 in tall; ~7 in wide at handle to spout
Condition: Good vintage condition with honest age wear. Overall, uniform glaze crazing, scattered surface wear and rubbing to the silver lustre (particularly on rim/handle), a few small scuffs/nicks to the foot and body, and light interior staining—no structural cracks seen. Presents well.
Food-Safe? Because of age and allover crazing/lustre decoration, recommended for decorative use only (not for food or drink contact).
