This charming small copper luster creamer is a fine example of mid-19th century English pottery. The pitcher features a bulbous body with bright metallic copper luster glaze and two deep cobalt blue horizontal bands (one around the shoulder and one near the base) accented with hand-applied stylized leaf motifs. A decorative dotted border rings the rim, and the handle is delicately molded with a thumb spur.
Likely produced in Staffordshire between 1830 and 1860, this piece would have served as a milk or cream pitcher, part of a tea service or table setting in a Victorian household. It is made from earthenware with a clear glaze inside and brilliant luster on the exterior, reflecting the light with a mirror-like finish.
The piece remains in good overall condition with one small chip visible on the inner top rim near the handle (see photos). There is minor expected wear to the luster surface consistent with age. The pitcher stands approximately 4.5 inches tall, 5 inches handle to spout, and 3.5 inches without handle and spout
A collectible and decorative antique suitable for display or careful use in a vintage-themed setting.
